Medical malpractice: Group accuses nursing home of neglect

Many people in New Jersey and across the country made great sacrifices for their country by joining the military. As they have aged, these veterans are now in need of someone else to take care of them. Unfortunately, several people have issued complaints regarding treatment that may constitute medical malpractice about a nursing home for veterans in another state regarding the quality of care provided to residents.

The group has levied a large range of complaints against the home. One man describes the care his father received there, claiming that at one point his shirt had not been changed in two days and that he suffered four falls while he was there. Another man describes a patient who was not changed for four hours while a woman claims that her husband was injured when another resident clawed his face.

As a result of the multiple complaints made against the facility, an investigation was reportedly conducted over the summer. A representative for the facility admits that some of the complaints had merit but states that many of them were part of a "racist agenda." However, those speaking out against the facility claim that argument makes no sense as their group is composed of people from a variety of different cultures.

Advocates for reforming the facility say that the issues faced there are a result of how the home is managed. In some instances, the only way to bring about change following instances of medical malpractice is to seek damages in a civil court. Many people who have suffered neglect and abuse while residing at a nursing home have sought justice in the form of monetary damages. An attorney with experience with such cases can help victims and their families in New Jersey fully understand their legal options.
