Wrongful death tragedy as New Jersey man is beaten to death.

A young man was beaten to death recently at a Piscataway bowling alley. In an apparent case of wrongful death, police officers were dispatched to a New Jersey bowling alley in Newark, in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 19. They responded to a report of fighting in the parking lot and inside the bowling alley. When they arrived, they reportedly found about 250 people involved in a series of fistfights. It was later determined that the actual fight may have involved less than five people.

A 23-year-old man was found unconscious in one of the bowling lanes. A township police detective reported that he was brutally beaten about the face. He was given CPR before being taken to a hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. Following an investigation, it was stated that the man had been intentionally hit in the head with a bowling ball.

At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the young man's death, but police have confirmed that there are suspects. Detectives have not been able to determine what triggered the mass fighting, and they have asked for anyone with information to contact the prosecutor's office. Although the medical examiner's office performed an autopsy on the deceased man, the results were not immediately available.

It is very difficult for anybody to cope with the unexpected death of such a young person, but families in New Jersey, and elsewhere, have options in such cases. The family of the deceased man retains the right to file a wrongful death claim against those responsible for his death. A successfully litigated claim will not change what happened, but it may lighten the financial burden placed on the family as a result of this tragedy.
