New Jersey motorist potentially facing wrongful death charge

The sudden loss of a parent to a tragic accident can have an ever-lasting emotional impact on his or her family. A recent car accident in North Brunswick claimed the life of a 22-year-old father-to-be. Sadly, a future mother of two twins has now been left on her own. A 28-year-old motorist is facing criminal charges for the crash that took the life of victim, and could potentially be facing a wrongful death claim in a New Jersey civil court.

The incident began when the accused man was stopped by police due to suspicious looking damage to his SUV. He had allegedly left the scene of a another accident earlier in the day. While the authorities were gathering his vehicle information, the motorist sped away. Just moments later, police discovered three vehicles that had been struck by the speeding SUV.

The deceased victim's car suffered significant damage from the impact of the collision. Unfortunately, he was killed at the scene due to the severity of the crash. The SUV driver was arrested and is now facing multiple criminal charges including manslaughter and evading police.

The allegedly reckless and speeding driver could also face consequences for his actions in a New Jersey civil court. A victim's family reserves the right to file a wrongful death claim whenever there is evidence which suggests that a fatality was caused by the negligence of another individual. Monetary relief awarded from a successful claim could help to cover funeral expenses, burial costs and other financial losses recognized under our laws.
